For Lindsey Hadfield, financial planning is a family affair.
“I’ve been able to see the way proper planning helps people,” says Lindsey, daughter of Verus’ president Dave Kozlowski (even mom, Marcy, a former CPA, works part-time here). “Growing up, I gained a lot of appreciation for what my dad does here, and how he had such a holistic picture of helping others achieve their personal and financial goals.”
Still, Lindsey is charting her own path at Verus as an investment specialist and tax preparer, backed by a degree in finance from James Madison University. She assists CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERS® with client needs, tax preparations, and investment strategies.
She notes that while some of her peers graduated and pursued “high” finance careers, Lindsey’s calling was helping others — not the bottom line. “A good relationship with a financial planner is built on trust and being comfortable with them managing your money, knowing your best interests are at heart,” she says. “You should not have to stress about reaching your financial goals.”
At JMU, she also earned a degree in nonprofit studies and, since high school, has been involved in a variety of charitable organizations. “Volunteering is something I am interested in and remain passionate about,” she says. And that’s the core of the reason she’s here: Service to others.
“The reason I’ve always been drawn to Verus is not just my parents, but the philosophy that it’s not about money, but helping others,” she says.
Lindsey and her husband, Elijah enjoy time outdoors — running, biking, hiking, and traveling in their new state home of Washington.
